Our Projects

Each year the Society undertakes one or more special research projects.

During 2015-2016, research focused on the men associated with the Allora district who fell during World War I. This effort culminated with the publication of “Keeping their Memory Alive” which was launched on Anzac Day 2016 at the RSL Memorial Hall. The book was supported by a grant from ANZAC Centenary Queensland http://anzac100.initiatives.qld.gov.au/grants/grant-project-profiles/allora.aspx

Additional research on all the returned service men and women of WWI associated with the Allora district and 100 years of Anzac Day commemoration in Allora was also undertaken. Both these projects are still works in progress.

The research project for 2016-2017 will focus on the involvement of men from the Allora district who went to the Boer War, and the actions of the citizens of Allora during the war.  If you have any Boer War material relating to Allora please contact the Research Officer or the Secretary.

The Society is keen to add to its photographic collection of WWI and Anzac Day. If you have photos of soldiers related to the Allora district from 1914 to 1939 who went to WWI please make contact. Also the society holds almost no photographic records of Anzac Day between 1930 and 1980. If you have some Anzac Day photos in your family album please allow us to copy them.
